How to Make Financing Conversations Comfortable
After the show, one contractor from Florida asked:
"I need to know how to make financing conversations comfortable for technicians."
Host Matthew Bratsis started by harping on the same obstacle that most contracting business owners need to face: everyone is intimidated when talking about financing for the first few times.
"I think we have a preconceived notion a lot of the time that we think technicians aren't salespeople so they can't sell," said Bratsis. "But you have to have a growth mindset. You just need to start training them."
Bratsis continued his point by explaining that success with a technician-selling model only comes with constant training, because its unfair to expect every technician will be able to sell as soon as you hire them. Instead, business owners should meet their technicians in the middle, and understand that they are going to need support to become successful salespeople.
"There's no magic pill," concluded Bratsis. "Talk to them constantly, train them constantly, put them in front of that situation and they will get comfortable."
