Instagram for Contractors

Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms on the internet, but they can be a waste of time if not utilized in the proper ways. That's why Colleen Keyworth of Online Access came on the most recent episode of Matt Chatts to talk about how to use Instagram for contractors, to clear up some of the myths around the platforms and to make sure contractors have the tools they need to make their pages sparkle on the platforms.

On episode 24 of Matt Chatts, Matthew Bratsis asked Keyworth to debunk some common myths about business's online presence. One of the first questions was surrounding TikTok, specifically around the voice contractors should be using when making content for the platform.

"Are HVAC contractors supposed to do a little dance, or like a 30 second HVAC challenge to go viral?" asked Bratsis.

Keyworth started by explaining that whatever you choose to do on social media, that you should be consider each platform separate and therefore have two different strategies. "What I post on my Facebook, I'll post on my Instagram," said Keyworth, noting a common misconception. "So when you post to Instagram, its not localized, until you localize it."

"Instagram represents a different demographic," said Keyworth. "You have your Facebook demographic, think of it as our boomers and older, and maybe your elder millenials. But millenials are mainly on Instagram, and then it gets to that up-and-coming Generation Z."

Keyworth concluded by restating the power that Instagram holds as a branding tool, giving the ability to easily associate your business with the right audience by tagging related businesses or using the correct hashtags.
